Footloose Original (1984) Review

Watched Footloose (1984) starring Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer, John Lithgow, Christopher Penn and Sarah Jessica Parker. The film had great character development for every character in the film. The acting was believable, convincing, and well acted. Its plot and dialogue was well done, it's entertaining, and best of all, it has awesome music. Another good thing about the movie is the speech that Ren makes concerning the dance at the end, it was very convincing and very well preached with passion. It was very well directed, and the movie features some good dancing. John Lithgow and Kevin bacon gave one fine and excellent performances. The opening sequence alone was great with a bunch of feet dancing showcasing the great footwear of the 80's to the soundtrack song "Footloose". the dance sequences where well choreographed and the songs were great and the script writers even managed to add in some humorous bits sprinkled through out. The film itself was just a fun movie that I'm sure you'll have fun with. It's charming, it's funny, it's just a blast to watch, and it's an 80's classic. I will give it an A.

Dolphin Tale Review.

Watched Dolphin Tale starring Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman and Harry Connick Jr. The film was earnest, sweet, and well-told, which makes it a rare family film. I really enjoyed the plot, which is about the human condition of a young boy who becomes best friends with a dolphin in need of a tail. The plot is an inspirational film, and even though it sometimes felt cliche and they had a boring sub plot about a crippled cousin, the movie ends up being fun and worth watching. The film does have a great storyline, superb acting, lots of funny moments, great characters, heartwarming moments, exceptional music and drama. The film was directed perfectly and it was just a great inspiring movie. I will give it an A.

Dream House Review.

Watched Dream House starring 007's Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts, and Rachel Weisz. The film had excellent performances by the lead actors and was well acted. The film itself was not that scary, but it told a decent story. Their were a few interesting elements but the plot wants so badly to be convoluted that it even forgets to be coherent or plausible. This film reminds me of Leonardo DiCaprio's Shutter Island, but Dream House fails to be as excellent as Shutter Island. The only thing that save this film was the incredible acting of it's leads and the great directing of the film. the dialogue and script was weak and lazy to come up with a great story. I will give it a C-.

Paranormal Activity 3 Review.

Watched Paranormal Activity 3. I thought the movie used predictable and cliche recycled tricks to scary people, for example , the whole door closing by itself or a babysitter getting attacked. the whole thing has been done before get new tricks to scared people. The film its self was not scary at all, but it did bring some jolts and thrills on some parts of the film. The plot of the story was weak with a ludicrous back story, but the directing was great. The acting in this film was good especially from the two young girls. The film did not bring anything knew to the table just the same old predictable and cliche tricks. I will give it a D+.

The Thing Review

Watched The Thing starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Joel Edgerton. I though it was a good prequel to the 1982 film. I also thought the film offers a similar overall experience to the 1982 film without replicating styles and situations. I did not think the film was scary, but it does offer a lot of chills and thrills. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stands out with her portrayal of a paleontologist. She keeps a cool, logical head whilst others around her start to panic. The special effects of this film was great and the scenery of Antarctica an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. I thought it was very entertaining, with a superb leads and supporting acting performances. I like how the ending perfectly tie this film with Carpenter's movie. I still believe that the dialogue and script had a few plot holes ,but it was still a great film. I will give it a B+.

Real Steel Review

Watched Real Steel Starring Hugh Jackman and Lost's Evangeline Lilly. The film was very awesome and I though It was going to suck, but it surprised me. The film was thrilling and exciting to watch with just enough characterization. The film's fighting sequence were totally violent and brutal. the film has admittedly corny script, it was well directed and has a fantastic and terrific cast. I thought this film was actually better than the transformers movies way better. It's a great story of the underdog who finally got it right and change their circumstances. The dialogue and script was well written and the directing was great as well. The film was very entertaining, fun and enjoyable. I will give it an A.

Footloose Remake Review

Watched Footloose Remake starring Kenny Wormald, and Julianne Hough. I was very disappointing with this film. I thought the film was like a montage of a music video with hot people, great choreography dance sequences, great music, but horrible acting. The acting in this film was horrible, unconvincing, and lazy except for Miles Teller who plays Willard who outshines the leads of the film. The directing was great, but the dialogue and script was lazy and not well done. the only scenes that were great was the opening scene, the montage sequences where they teach Willard how to dance and the ending. The film had excellent choreographed dance sequences, but it lacks character development, a good script and great acting. The remake is exactly the same as the original because it copied every scene by scene and word for word, and I thought it was a horrible remake. I recommended to skip this film and rent or buy the 1984 original movie starring Kevin Bacon because the remake lacks the six degrees of Kevin Bacon way. It's a D+.

Warrior Review.

Watched Warrior starring The Dark Knight Rises's Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, Nick Nolte, and Jennifer Morrison. I have to agree with the Schmoes Know that this film is one of the best mixed martial arts film ever made and one of the best films of 2011. The film has exceptional and well crafted mixed martial arts sequences with gripping action, brutality and violence of the sport. It was appropriately blunt, powerful and relentless with riveting and convincingly real performances by Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, and Nick Nolte. The film was beautifully directed and well written that made this film flawlessly excellent. The film was an epic, beautiful film, with a completely shocking twist. I will give it an A++++.

Contagion Review

Watched Contagion starring Academy Award Winners Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Kate Winslet and Gwyneth Paltrow. The film was exceptionally smart, scary, tightly plotted, and very entertaining. I believe the film is one of the best movies made to date about an epidemic/pandemic since outbreak. The film was gripping from start to finish and very intense with incredible and fantastic performances of this stellar cast. The film was astonishingly well written and directed that is shot with documentary grimness. The film shows relative realism to the plot and nail-biting premise to this story. I will give it an A+.
